#1: Vexs's GTI 180 - Final Update: 26/10/15 Author: Vexs, Location: London PostPosted: Mon Jan 19, 2015 8:20 pm

So here she is, my 2004 GTI 180.
36k on the clock, has a full service history, completely OEM standard (when I bought it) and they guy I bought it off was 65+, as was the previous owner (so I'm told), but I could easily believe it with just how clean it is.

Spent Sunday detailing her inside out, top to bottom. Didn't get time to get the machine polisher out after a late start so it's all hand done for now, but doesn't clean up too bad for a 11 year old!

Has a few paint issues in the way of bird muck being left for to long on the roof in two spots and a small spot on the bonnet, these will eventually be re-sprayed.

Plan to remove the peugeot & 206 badge over the next few days, lose the rear wiper again to give the car the clean rear look like normal.
Already have a spare SP fuel cap and badge from last time so these will be sprayed in EXL black to match the car.
Already switched the rear lights over to the ones from my old wrote off 206 along with the Team Heko wind deflectors.
Other than the above that'll be it for now, set some cash aside for the respray work and deal with anything else that comes along the way, maybe some coilovers before FCS if the budget allows.

Well I'd prefer not to give an exact figure but let's say my inner 'crafty cockney' got him down below 1700 and worth every penny!

Thanks Timon! It has a few age related marks but nothing that won't be sorted out Smile

love it. Although it looks a bit high standard but still a gorgeous car and in my opinion the best colour.

Thanks mate.

Defiantly sits higher than I would like, coilovers are on the cards again, hoping to have them in before FCS.

Talking of FCS are you planning in making the trip this year?

Just a small update really.

Cambelt was done for peace of mind as was an oil change and new plugs back in January
Debadged the rear end with the exception of the 180 badge and removed the rear wiper.
Put the rear lights from my old 8v on as well as the Heko wind deflectors.
Sprayed the SP fuel cap & front badge black.
K&N Panel Filter.
Fitted a Janspeed full cat back system which sounds fantastic!
One last service part needing doing is the rear discs need replacing which will be done this weekend.

I have what seems to be a never ending list of things I would like done before FCS. The main two are coilovers and respray work on the roof and bonnet but due to unforeseen circumstances the respray work will be done first and the coilovers later in the year as I have a friend in a body shop so it works out cheaper that way around. I have however settled on Spax RSX's though as the ease of adjusting all four corners on the fly appeals most as the plan is to track her next year but she'll hopefully undergo a weight loss programme after this year's show season.

I do have a few styling mods left to do, nothing major just simple things really but I have no intention of updating until after FCS now, so those going will see the progress first I guess. I will put some photo's up this weekend of the cars current state if I get time.

Sounds amazing mate! How much was the Cat back system?

I paid £400 from a company called Roadrunner Motorsport. A little more than I had initially planned but Larkspeed f****d me about so they got jogged on very quickly.
