is there a locking pin? It isn't coming off with the air gun

If you mean the crankshaft pulley, you have to lock the flywheel/driveplate ring gear, using a special tool, attached to the bellhousing flange, and the ring gear teeth.

This is to stop the the pulley turning. (Haynes Manuel)

Thanks, Yes it was the crankshaft pulley. I got it in the end whit a breaker bar by putting it into 5th and pressing the brake
