Front wing replacement - used or new?
-> 206 Problems

#1: Front wing replacement - used or new? Author: stinger77 PostPosted: Fri Feb 06, 2015 10:26 am

I have a 206 sw XT which needs a new driver's side front wing.

Ideally I'd like a used one in the right colour (KAW gold) but it's looking a bit hard to find one.

Does anybody have any experience of fitting new third party wings? Several places seem to do them cheaply on ebay, but I'm suspicious of the quality/fit. Also it's strange that some places say their 206 wings don't fit the 206sw - I thought they were interchangeable.

Would I be better off buying a used one in another colour and respraying?

Well personally I like the OEM parts,so it's better to buy a second hand front wing than buying a brand new one that is not OEM,as it's fits perfect,so yes buy a used one,and respray it if you can't find your car color.

as some wings will not fit the 206 SW ,that is not true,as all is the same,but make sure you buy a non sport one,as the sport one will be wider to give it a sporty look ;).

Good Luck.

Unless you're in a hurry, it may be best to just wait for a wing to come up. It also depends on how much it will cost you to get a front wing painted. I was quoted £450 for a nearside wing to be supplied, painted and blended with the rest of the car. A wing will cost you about £40-60, perhaps more as the gold ones are not that common.

As for non OEM front wings, i'm not really sure. I have a feeling that they should fit ok as the 206 was in production for quite a while and they should have sorted out any kinks by then. SW wings will fit the hatchback but make sure you don't get the sports wings if you have the normal ones or vice versa. Although I think most cars that are gold would have sports wings on them anyway.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately I am in a bit of a hurry, so guess I'll go with getting a used one in a different colour.
