Hey Guys,

I'm sure you all know what car I've got by now, Basically, my EML is coming on, showing anti-pollution fault, it'll stay there for about 3 days and then disappear for about a week, then back on for 3 days.

The main problem I have is I'm sue for an MOT and I'd rather not fail due to "luck of the draw" with it.

Any advice?

I can clear fault code but can't read what it actually is.

(Closest PP2000 is an hours drive away)

Cheers,

Jord

you need to get a code reader to find out what codes you get up and deal with them. I disconnected my battery after i got the anti pollution warning and EML light and that cleared them but still shows P0300 random missfire

I've got an "iCarSoft" Citroen and peugeot code reader, would that be any good?

Okay so I have a fault code of;

P0170 - Fuel Trim Bank 1

I also have the following;

P0011 - A Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 1
P0012 - A Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 1

I've cleared it for now but it'll most likely be back.

Fuel trim bank 1 - er dont know what that is - never heard of that one before??

The other ones sound like a new camshaft position sensor needed

Have you adjusted the timing at all?

Sounds to me more like the VVT solenoid needs a clean and an oil service. Does the car cut out at all? Idle like a sack of s**t?

I haven't touched anything since I bought it in December.

I have no problems with it at all except Massive increase in fuel consumption over the last week.

Any ideas?

I'm due for an MOT and service soon so I'll hopefully get it fixed then.

I think you should remove the vvt solenoid, easy enough to do and just give it a good clean and tell us what the condition is like before you clean it

what brand is the solenoid Sagem, Bosch, Bougicord ? if it is Sagem you need to replace since the dealers usually replaces them with Electrifil (Bougicord) brand. Also the wiring to the coil pack sometimes can be defective.
Treat all electrical contacts with contact spray and some vaseline.
Also recommended spark plugs are Bosch Super 4 Bosch order number: 0 242 232 801 for 1.1 engine HFX (like mine) but since I am not driving it I don't need to change them. Or you can replace spark plugs with Equiem (genuine) from the dealer.
Cleaning of the COIL Pack can help. Remember to check the coil pack connector. There are two types (for HFX 1.1 and 1,4 ENGINES) one is with gray connector and one with black connector.
Replacement coil must have same color connector on it.
Here is how to replace coil pack you need 10 minutes in total: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZf7UXSTYeY
