#1: What is this plug for? Author: sloposse, Posted: Fri Mar 20, 2015 1:29 pm ---- Can ayone identify this plug? Car is a 2002 02 reg 206cc 2.0 manual with auto aircon and ABS
Swapped my broken battery box today and discovered not only acid all over the gearbox and an empty battery cell (but battery still working?) but this plug skulking away down the side of the battery box and nothing likely for it to plug into.
Is it a spare?

Correct.
BSI unit controls the fuel cut off function on multiplexed 206.

I've got speed sensor short circuited to earth and power steering stop information - coherence.
Have looked at the wiring that i can see and found nothing wrong but Im guessing that the speedo itself is at fault.

#7: Re: What is this plug for? Author: sloposse, Posted: Sat Mar 21, 2015 3:46 pm ---- Ive changed the speed sensor for a new one, pp2000 is still saying speed sensor shorted to earth and things like aircon, airbags and even the roof is receiving incorrect signal from it.
One thing to point out is that when you save the scan data in pp2000 it comes up with a milage around 155000 miles yet the odometer is showing 98561 miles so it's a bit of a strange one.
Oh and the interior light flashes when you open a door.
Any clues on how to test if the ecu is detecting actual road speed? I havent tried pp2000 with live data while driving yet, suppose thats next course of action, then it will be dashboard out for a good inspection.
I can't just ignore this as because the roof is detecting a signal as if the car is moving it keeps disabling the roof and have to clear it with the diag which is getting annoying now.

What happens if you disconnect the speed sensor & then do a global scan?
ABS system not reporting any faults?

ABS is reporting no faults thank god and works properly too (blooming dogs lol)
I've had a quick look around the wiring but its a bit overwhelming where to start with it all as there's so much and what do you take off first and how, to get to check said wiring?
If this was a 205 i'd have it sorted in a jifffy

Ever thought the ecu is looking at mileage in KM which is about 98k miles? If the roof and other stuff us playing up it suggests the ecu isn't getting a speed signal. That suggests it could be a wiring fault.

You may be right about the 155,000 being in kms as thats what the program seems to default to, didnt think of that ha thanks, milage checks out and seems consistent on the mot history at least.
Bugger it going to check it now because its bugging me.
Re: the roof, when it stops working and i do a diag it comes up with speed signal wrong signal so is disabling it on purpose thinking im trying to open it while driving the car,

Having said that it was like this before when the codes had been cleared until it had been driven. Ive had a few pernods so that will have to wait till tomorrow night after work now.
Had a quick look and cant see any big multiplug behind the bumper.

Conversion factor between km and miles is 1.609 (1,609 meters to a mile), so 155,000 km equals 96,333 miles and 98,561 miles equals 158,584 km
