GTI 180 aftermarket headgaskets.

So was thinking of head gaskets if I was to place high compression pistons in the EWJ104S lump.

I then thought of upgrading the head gasket but I cannot find any for the GTI 180?

Is there a reason for this? I got a quote from Peugeot Wrexham of £37.50 for the gasket and then £3.30 per head bolt.

Any one know where to get a WRC spec gasket or similar quality like in the 106's and 306's????

Just a curiosity that's all as to why they don't make a better head gasket for the EWJ104S??

Cheers =]

Is there a need for a better gasket? In what way do you want it to be better? Anything that brings the head and valves closer to the pistons needs to make sure the valve to piston clearance is safe. You can't just Shove a thinner gasket on.

I know you don't just smash a thinner gasket on and hope that you don't smash the valves on the piston head!

I was asking if there was an upgrade as I haven't seen them for the GTI 180 but have for many other model Peugeots.

It's just for curiosity purposes as I'm sure many others might think is there a better gasket I can place on other than the OEM to increase longevity of the car?

And actually how good is the OEM gasket with High Comp Wossners?

I don't think I've ever heard of a head gasket failure on an EW10 engine so I guess the standard gasket is as good as you could hope for.

If your going to do your pistons you should know to check your cr and clearences with clay.

I think the gasket it multilayer steel so there is no need for anything better

Ok cool cheers guys Smile

That's the answer I was looking for. If the standard one is more than up to the job then I sh'ant bother with anything else.

Hopefully it's up to forged Pistons in the future Wink

I guess in a way he was thinking if it was possible of changing the compression with a gasket ? Going for max compression ?

Forged pistons hmm nice .
I read recently about a ew10j4s only ported & polished and standalone ecu making 239 bhp !

Anyone know if it had high comp pistons ?
Never seen itbs on 180 ???? ( off topic)
