#1: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Mon Mar 30, 2015 5:53 pm ---- So I've got a little 1.1i 206 mechanically the car is running sweet, no leaks or squeaks which is always good and under the car is very clean for its age (15 years old), there's a bit of paint that's flaked off behind both front wheels on the tops of the sills (can just see on the last picture) and has the classic tiny spots where the paint has bubbled in a couple places but nothing a few hours prep and paint won't fix, also the previous owner had a few bumps as both front wings are slightly dented and a couple of other tiny dents but other then that the shell is sound too. Il get all this done though as nobody wants to be driving around in a beat up car in summer
I was at the scrap yard and couldn't resist taking off a sport front bumper as the SP grill was with it, got the whole thing for £20 so really could not resist lol but got to go back for the front wings too soon.
Next stage is to pickup some wheels I've bought this Friday, some 205 pepper pots, then I have to get some tyres, I hate having steelies but will keep one as my spare wheel as one has a brand new tyres on it. Also I need to fit new anti roll links and suspension legs, the top bearing on the drivers side is seized but there's no point just changing one, I just know this is a pain to do so id rather wait for the new CV joints to turn up so I can do it all at once. Oh and a K&N panel filter.
After the wheels and tyres I'm going to get some GTI front seats front the scrapyard, hoping to get a set of powerflex bushes all round as well as vented discs but i've got to pick up the callipers for them, I already have the discs and fresh pads but I recently found out I need the wider callipers.
I've already given the car a new radiator, changed the oil, uprated gear linkages and full short shift kit, the sport front bumper with upper and lower SP grills, a new alternator (done by garage) and a full new front to back exhaust including cat, removed the restrictive stock cold air feed and added my own that now goes to the wheel liner and a little breather filter on the crankcase as my breather pipe snapped.
Even though its only a 1.1 its nippy for getting around town now and picks up speed when it needs to which is all I need out of it for now as its my little family car. Once I get another car (possibly a 207) it would be a shame to let this go so il probably end up turning it into a track car but when that happens il be saying goodbye to the 1.1 motor.
I did go out earlier when it was light to get some more photos but my phone died soon after, anyway enough talk for now haha.

#3: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Tue Mar 31, 2015 2:45 am ---- Thanks man I found it on ebay but had to buy the parts separate but were cheap enough and all great quality parts.
#4: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Tue Mar 31, 2015 9:17 am ---- The 205 wheels picking them up Thursday now as I get paid early with it being good Friday. Il give them a clean up and little refurb then spray satin black, keeping them silver will have too much silver.
#5: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Wed Apr 01, 2015 5:13 am ---- Sounds good, look foward to seeing this project unfold and its nice seeing an active memeber once in a while
#6: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Wed Apr 01, 2015 12:58 pm ---- Thanks mate, at some point I want to fill in where the fog lights are as they're only for display right now as the wiring isn't there so im thinking of making cutouts from the standard bumper as its got the fog mounts on the back but no holes then adding a fibreglass patch on the back once the cutouts are in place then fill on the front and respray, also I've never seen a 206 with the pepperpots so it will be unique unless there is another haha.
#7: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Wed Apr 01, 2015 1:16 pm ---- You could just leave the front fog lamps where they are then keep an eye on Ebay for the retro fit kit that Peugeot does, they do show up from time to time.
The kit has everything you need to retrofit the front fog lamps / get them working if you already have them.
#8: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Wed Apr 01, 2015 3:25 pm ---- I could easily pickup the wiring off of a 206 with the stalk for front fogs at the scrapyard for £4 but will end up filling the holes probably when I get the new front wings as I've got no reason to remove the bumper right now. Thanks for the suggestion though.
#9: Re: The little 1.1 nipper - new wheels 3/4/15 Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Fri Apr 03, 2015 9:46 am ---- Sanding down the new wheels ready for primer all of them are perfect except for slightly bubbled paint on them but im repainting satin black anyway.
#10: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Sat Apr 11, 2015 2:43 pm ---- So a little update, got one wheel painted and smoothed all I need to do is clear coat now, thought I'd stick it on the car anyway to see how it would look, now just got to get tyres and flush fit valves then the wheels are done.
Unfortunately my front end has basically gone, drivers side track rod is loose (tracking was not done properly), both front shocks are chucking out oil and anti roll links are gone but im skint for another week, luckily I already have new parts including front springs but im not risking any more damage so no car basically for a week but at least il have the time to get the rest of the wheels done
#11: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Mon Jun 29, 2015 7:24 am ---- Wheels primed and finally got tyres for them, some part worns all 7mm.
#12: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Tue Jun 30, 2015 2:40 pm ---- Getting one step closer to being done.
Picking up some alloy wheel nuts friday, then the next step is to get the gti front wings.
#13: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Thu Jul 02, 2015 11:49 am ---- All lacquered.
#14: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: cainw1, Posted: Thu Jul 02, 2015 4:10 pm ---- Wheels looking smart, bet they'll look good on
#15: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Thu Jul 02, 2015 4:34 pm ---- Thanks man, glad I finally got a reply haha, not much interest in a little 1.1 im guessing, im just trying to think about a space saver now until I get round to getting another speedline, im guessing the standard 206 space saver would not work as ive had to go lower profile for these wheels as they're slightly wider.
#16: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Sat Jul 04, 2015 10:54 am ---- Rubstrips colour coded and the 205 wheels are on! Just need some tyre silk putting on.
Next is to pickup my gti front wings a week on Monday and find a cheap sp bonnet grill, usually a few cars with sp gear on at my local scrappy.
#17: Re: The little 1.1 nipper Author: Horton898, Location: EarthPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2015 1:57 pm ---- I picked up some quicksilver front wings to match my front bumper as its slightly wider then the standard bumper, there's about a 30mm lip on either side. One of the wings had a slight crease at the front but got some body filler on it and smoothed, also im sanding both down to repaint as they're not the same silver, will be getting the paint Monday, primer put on Tuesday, paint Wednesday, lacquer Thursday and then just finishing touches and they'll be on the car the Tuesday after.
