#1: Gti 180 holes in air intake Author: cainw1, Posted: Sat Apr 04, 2015 4:18 am ---- Hi there,
I am giving my car a good once over today and also changing the coolant. Whilst under the car I noticed two holes, which appear to have been drilled in the bottom of the air intake.
Are these meant to be there? Are they for drainage?
I have also noticed a air rushing type of sound when I put my foot down.
I have attached a photo hopefully this will be of help.
Many thanks!

I'll have a look under mine a little later to verify though.

#5: Re: Gti 180 holes in air intake Author: cainw1, Posted: Sat Apr 04, 2015 1:12 pm ---- Thanks for the replies. Yes I think they look drilled for definite. I think I may make an attempt to cover them.

#12: Re: Gti 180 holes in air intake Author: cainw1, Posted: Tue Apr 07, 2015 1:33 am ---- Yeah I guess it is. I run standard airbox so mine will be staying. Thank you for your help
#13: Re: Gti 180 holes in air intake Author: Project2062014, Location: CornwallPosted: Tue Apr 07, 2015 3:34 am ---- It's a funny setup on the 180. The box splits of into two. There a pressure switch that opens a 2nd air vent. I guess the holes are there to allow air in because I would say the air box is restricted the way it's been setup. Also its a big engine in a small space & gets hot quick.

Potentially for drainage too if any water did get in I guess.
#15: Re: Gti 180 holes in air intake Author: gpvecchi, Location: ItalyPosted: Tue Apr 07, 2015 2:58 pm ---- I have them. They are in the lower part of the pipe, they are needed to drip the water if it's sucked inside the pipe.
