#1: 206 Engine Differences Author: pwezly, Posted: Sun Apr 12, 2015 4:41 pm ---- Hi All!
I have a 2001 (Y) 206 Quiksilver 1.4 8v (i think)
Beautiful car, but had a lot of problems since i have bought the thing, most of which i have sorted out via either myself or a professional mechanic.
I have a leak in my exhaust just after the catalytic converter. I have a friend that was breaking a 206 very similar to mine (1.4, 2001) but wasn't a quicksilver. I asked him to remove the catalytic converter from the one that was breaking, it was different to mine.
My question is, are there specific engine part numbers or codes that i can use in order for me to define what catalytic converter to get?
Eurocarparts cannot define and guarantee that they have one that will fit and to be honest, i don't want to risk it.
if ANYONE can shed ANY light or point me in the right direction, then i would really appreciate it.
Thanks all.

The earlier cars normally have the cat underneath the car. When you ring up to order just tell them where the cat is and that should help them out.

If yours and your mates are different it may just be that one of them (his or yours) was previously replaced with a none genuine part.

@kandlbarrett - i have no idea if the cat from the other car that my friend was breaking was an aftermarket or original one, sorry i can't be much help there! i do know that the cat was in a different place to the other 206 though.
@pug206lx thanks mate, i believe mine to be just behind the rad, just before the middle pipe.
@mrBSI thanks for the information! really useful to know.
ill update when the cat has been changed over....providing the nuts on the manifold come off!! may just let a qualified mechanic deal with that, in case anything snaps off or even worse...rounds off!!!
