I have a 55 plate(I think as it has an ulster plate) 206sw 1.4 petrol
In August last year I had a smash & had to replace the front end new fan, radiator, bumpers & bonnet etc (Repaired by myself)
A week before Christmas the timing belt went & I needed a new engine done by garage.
Recently I have noticed the engine temp creeping up during driving & when stationary & it would appear that the fan is not running either at low temp or high.
I have looked at previous posts & have found plenty of advice on what would cause the problems.
What I need to help me is an idiots guide to diagnosing my issue like a step by step walkthrough (if one exists) preferably with pictures showing the location of the stats etc.
I have seen people mention about applying power directly to the fan to test if that is working first but I have no idea where to connect it to
Unfortunately taking to a garage is not an option at the moment as I am currently out of work.

#2: Re: Cooling fan again Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri May 01, 2015 2:17 pm ---- FWIW I repaired mine last week - Peugeot Planet global test should pick up a cooling fan fault as the ECU does monitor the cooling fan status when its command to run.
You can also run actuator tests on the cooling fan to test both low & high speeds - useful after repair.
Rotten wiring is common, as is corroded relays or a failed low speed resistor, these are all located in the cooling fan area.
Worth having a look here & see if any forum members nearby have Planet.

So I had a look at the fan today it runs when I put 12v direct to the motor so the fan is fine.
Replaced the relays but it still doesn't work the connections looked ok.
There was a blue connector not connected on the engine block (picture to follow later)
Not sure what I can check out next so any advice or suggestions are welcomed but please keep it simple & detailed.
The fan also doesn't work when I switch on the A/C

My fan kicks in at about 94c (which still seems a tad late to me?) back to around 90, no more rushing in to the red and the stop sign flashing though!

Cooling fan works both speeds now & Peugeot Planet reports no faults
My other 206 which is 6 months older has had no cooling fan issues, I put this down to having the climate control permanently on all the time so the fan is always cutting in & out.

Does the AC clutch cut in?
If it doesn't then suspect a lack of gas in the AC system
The AC system will not work if the system pressure is to low or high.

I am completely clueless when it comes to A/C! It's more the fan i am worried about!
