I have just upgraded to a faster 1.6 Peugeot 206 Allure edition, now I am looking to get it back into shape as some parts are slightly rusted and just generally clean the car.
My first question, do you know what the specific part would be called for the top of the engine, so the plastic cover? Basically it is the middle part of the engine with 8 screws and the oil cap on.
One of the screw points has cracked and there is now no screw in there as well as the fact there is a reasonably big crack in the plastic. What would this part of the engine be called so I can buy a replacement top? Also is this going to cause any issue driving it around- not sure what a crack in the plastic will do to the engine, bit of an amateur here!
The second part is the brake section of the car. The brakes are new however the part holding the brake pad is very rusty. I want to replace this, more for the look of the car than anything. As I can see it is rusty behind the hubcap. What part of the brakes/behind the hubcap would this specific part be called? It looks like a lump of metal by the brake pad?
Also- would this be expensive to replace/something I could do myself? Or is this a garage job!

2nd is called a caliper and holds the pads against the disc.... they are not cheap but several people have painted them to improve appearance..... sadly

I can see, people think paint is a good idea.. although it may improve the appearance I am seeing online it may erode the break line, so not a good idea by the looks of it!

That cover just covers the coil pack and oil breather pipes. Having a crack in that specific piece of plastic will do no harm whatsoever but as you said you want to replace it to make car engine bay look tidy.

I've been working on my car this afternoon so I've checked out what size torx bit it is and its a T20 you need

I had just bought a torx screwdriver and replaced it! You are correct, wouldnt affect the engine- so didnt really need replacing annoyingly but hey it makes the engine bay look tidy as you said!
Only thing is the screws are very very rusty. Anyone know what screws are needed to replace them?
