#1: camshaft pullys Author: Project2062014, Location: CornwallPosted: Wed May 27, 2015 1:18 pm ---- Anyone help me out .?
My camshaft pully is squealing badly.
Where can I buy new ones ??
Do I just need bearings or a complete pully ?
As I stand over the engine the camshaft pully nearest the front of the car is making all the noise . Sounds crushed & it is grinding .
Will it causes issues driving the car as it is ??
Many thanks
Anyone in the southwest Cornwall ?. Be able to fix this for me . I'm very busy with work I could do to get to the FCS 6 th June !!!!
#2: Re: camshaft pullys Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Wed May 27, 2015 2:19 pm ---- You sure it's a camshaft pulley?
I'm 150% the noise is from the camshaft pulley ....
It changes as the rpm does from the pulley..
It's not the cambelt or crank pulleys .... defo camshaft pulley..
The camshaft did knock loud is as I started the car then quietly carmed down & Then it's squealing like a pig .
No knocking now just metal on metal .. I guess it knocked as the bearing ? Failed & went tight ?????
I've no clue how they work with vvt or how it's setup ..

Have you got any parameters you can read?
Have you removed the aux belt?

#9: Re: camshaft pullys Author: Project2062014, Location: CornwallPosted: Thu May 28, 2015 5:28 am ---- Phoned in sick at work . Need get car fixed .
So vvt solenoid clean as . Oil was low so now fully topped up .
Once The car has warmed up the squealing stops between 1000/2000 rpm but the squeals like a pig there after ..
Just about to take the inlet camshaft cover off and it's started raining . So I guess I'll wait until the rain has cleared and carry on .
Also popped in a local garage & they not a clue . Great help did book me in though .. Wednesday next week .. I hope to resolve the issue before then .
I'm thinking I might as well Change the cams while I'm here ..

I'd still give it a soak in some carb cleaner to be safe. You may not be able to see the dirt but that doesn't mean its not still jammed
#11: Re: camshaft pullys Author: Project2062014, Location: CornwallPosted: Thu May 28, 2015 6:17 am ---- The oil is getting circulated ..
. . inlet cam cover is off .loads of oil in there .. ( have just topped it up) .. Doesn't look as if it's been ran dry .
Coil pack next and spark plugs out so I can turn it over from the wheels by hand ..
I've got the feeling ill get coated in oil if I turn it over off the key ?
Camshaft cover is off as stated .
no bits of metal everything seems fine .. at first inspection..
Gargage rang me to say drop in at 2ck For a listen .. Ha
#12: Re: camshaft pullys Author: Project2062014, Location: CornwallPosted: Thu May 28, 2015 8:12 am ---- Soaked vvt solenoid For the extra clean affect .. Noticed when I was under the car the aux belt looked half off a pulley .
Aux. belt had slipped off the track .
Drove garage told them of my findings they moved the belt back to the right place and BOOOM Fcs here we come.
Thanks addz for advice wouldn't of done with out you !
I did crap my pants & I cannot believe all that noise was the belt .
I'm sure the vvt solenoid was blocked lol .... I was a lot quiter after I cleaned it and topped the oil .
garage didn't charge me as they said I was already onto the problem .... .. Thanks ks again people's whoop whoop ;);)
& yes I did kiss my car !!
