#1: Miles to a tank Author: skybluebert, Posted: Fri Jun 12, 2015 12:29 pm ---- Recently bought a 1.4 206sw 8v petrol. I've noticed its matching my old 1.6 civic and getting 280/300 miles a tank.
I was wondering is this right or are others getting a higher millage from a full tank

If it's motorway miles that works out to 28/30 mpg. My 1.1 used to achieve 23 mpg on the way to uni which was 70% dual carriageway and 30% town driving
#3: Re: Miles to a tank Author: skybluebert, Posted: Fri Jun 12, 2015 1:38 pm ---- I'd say 60% town nd 40% duel carriage way
#4: Re: Miles to a tank Author: David1156, Location: East LondonPosted: Fri Jun 12, 2015 2:01 pm ---- Imo that doesn't sound bad at all. Vexs used to have a 1.4 and perhaps he/ others with a 1.4 can give a better idea of whether or not your fuel economy is good. Do you use any fuel additives like Redex?
#5: Re: Miles to a tank Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Jun 12, 2015 2:04 pm ---- My TU3 206 is returning around 33 mpg average at the moment.
The ET3 206 I have easily beats it with around 42 mpg average.
Both are 2003 vintage & both between 104K miles & 115k miles, both used to trundle round town & climate control on all the time.
Highest i've seen on the TU3 is just under 40 mpg average on a long motorway run.
The ET3 around 52 mpg average.

Not chucked no redex in yet
#7: Re: Miles to a tank Author: wac38, Posted: Fri Jun 12, 2015 3:08 pm ---- On 85% motorway, 15% town (with the 'occasional' thrash) I've been getting 320-350 miles per tank, on 98 in pretty standard 1.6 16V XS manual with a/c at eco/off, with 112k miles in the clock.
#8: Re: Miles to a tank Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Fri Jun 12, 2015 4:21 pm ---- Just done a fuel up and getting about 400 miles to a tank (had about an eighth left) mainly town driving

Largest fill up I've done was ~45 liters (from -- miles left on the computer + about 5km, to auto-shut-off on the nozzle), and at 8.3 l/100km that gives me ~542 km (or ~336 miles)
GTi 180 (RC) with about the same mix of driving, but AC typically on Auto, 95 oct (E10), ~56.000 miles (90.000 km)
#10: Re: Miles to a tank Author: skybluebert, Posted: Sat Jun 13, 2015 3:17 am ---- might go fill her up later and chuck some redex in

It's worth a try. Some people swear by it whereas others think of it as simply snake oil. I used to think of it as the latter however until I got an extra 30 miles out of a tank when using it regularly.

Whilst I can't prove it was redex at the bottom of it all I will simply never use it again and stick with using better fuel from a Shell garage.
#13: Re: Miles to a tank Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Sat Jul 25, 2015 5:30 am ---- First proper stats since I had the head skimmed and replaced the gasket
Massive difference
#14: Re: Miles to a tank Author: skybluebert, Posted: Mon Jul 27, 2015 12:17 pm ---- I've chucked redex in twice now and done a short blast down to birmingham then 2nd time went up yorkshire moors and got 417 miles out of full tank. It seems to hav done the trick
