#1: Oil change now engine a bit tappy Author: greenpug2222, Location: bradfordPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2015 12:53 pm ---- Hi,
I've just completed an oil and filter change and decided to go for 5w40 instead of my norm 10w40. However now it's running a bit tappy...... Is this ok as I e never used 5w40 before?

On a 2000 2.0 HDi I switched to 5w40 during winter, and I think I'll stick with it now, no tapping. It's supposed to be more liquid when cold than 10w (hence the lower number 5w), maybe you hear tapping on your engine.
I used to record the before and after oil change engine sound but never analysed those videos, as simply the difference was ever so faint

Pity they don't do a fully synthetic 10w40

I can report that the car is a bit more .... Let say eager than normal.
