#1: My Orange Track Toy Author: Squashedfish, Posted: Mon Aug 24, 2015 9:31 am ---- Hello all, I thought I'd start a bit of a progress thread for my latest project in case anyone is interested.
I was recently given a 206 GTI by a friend who no longer had any use for it and I plan to make it into my latest track toy. I have done a couple of 106 GTI's before so fancied something a bit different.
The car is a 138 206 in the burnt orange colour, I will try and get some pics up later but I'm sure you all know what they look like.
For those of you wanting to see a relatively conservative build then stick around, anyone expecting ITB's, turbos or supercharger conversions then this probably isn't for you, below is a list of what I intend to do.
Plans
Strip out as much of the excess weight as possible, air con, seats, sound dampening etc etc.
Replace the stock manifold for a 4-2-1 from maniflow and replace the exhaust with a stainless CAT free system.
Upgrade the brakes to something bigger, probably from a 180 if I'm honest.
Lower it and stick some better shocks for track use.
Fit a cage and a couple of bucket seats.
Sit it on some Team Dynamic 1.2's and some R888's
Last but not least take it to some track days and have some fun.
Thanks for stopping by and having a read, progress may be slow at times as I spend two weeks at a time working away offshore.
I'll try and post some pics of how the car currently stands before work starts later.
Leather interior etc will be for sale at some point if anyone is interested.

#3: Re: My Orange Track Toy Author: Squashedfish, Posted: Mon Aug 24, 2015 2:28 pm ---- Hopefully it'll be a blast, I will get some snaps up as soon as this rain stops.
#4: Re: My Orange Track Toy Author: Squashedfish, Posted: Sat Sep 12, 2015 1:15 am ---- Not much in the way of updates at the moment sadly due to being away with work, before I left though I did manage to strip out all the interior and sound proofing.
Whilst I am home next week the air con is going to be removed, does anyone have a part number for a shorter belt so I can remove the pump?
Also managed to get a set of 406 Brembos for cheap so they will take car of the stopping power up front.
I will get some pics posted once I'm home.

That would be great, how much do you want for it?

#8: Re: My Orange Track Toy Author: Squashedfish, Posted: Mon Nov 02, 2015 2:16 am ---- Firstly sorry for the late reply, Edward if you still have that belt then I will take it off your hands.
I've had a busy weekend, all the seats, trim and sound deadening is now removed. Hopefully the car will be off for a role cage to be fitted this week.
I am after a short shift kit, can anyone recommend any?
I will get some pictures up later, it's a little foggy at the mo.
