Hello again
I know I have asked quite a few questions , but the help I have had has been invaluable .Thanks all .

I am going to do an oil change and also change all the filters in my 2004 Peugeot 206 XSi HDi but I am getting conflicting answers as to what oil type to use .. 5W-40 as in the handbook or 5W-30 .

I plumped for Castrol EDGE Turbo Diesel Engine Oil 5W-40 which the handbook states is correct , but a seller who tried to sell me 5W-30 insists that's correct . Confused

Most online checks for my reg plate say 5W-40 .

Anyone know for sure ?
Thanks.

I would personally stick with the 5w40 most of the discrepancies are down to what different suppliers list. Technically 5w30 is classed as a more efficient oil as its thinner when hot than 5w40 therefore gives less resistance to flow and moving parts. However there is a downside! thinner oil in a higher mileage engine can sometimes be noisy but its dependant on the condition of your engine.

Its the API ratings that indicate the quality of the oil so the different grades doesn't always mean its not suitable!
