#1: No Rear fog light warning on dashboard Author: tiagop, Posted: Tue Dec 22, 2015 4:18 am ---- Hello,
I have a Peugeot 206 1.4 HDI and yesterday I turned for the very first time the rear fog light. I noticed that on my dashboard there was no light to "warn" me that the fog light was on. Any ideia what it might be? Will I have to replace my current dashboard (it's working fine besides that)? Sometimes, even though rarely, while driving the car makes a beep sound even though there's no message in the board computer. The only warning that I get when I turn on the engine is that the oil is at max capacity. Can you guys help me out?
Thanks

IIRC the pre-plexed ones have actual [replaceable] bulbs for lighting and indicators in the dash while the multiplexed ones have surface mount LED's soldered to to the circuitboard.
To get at the cluster:
* pull off the top cover by gripping the forward edge (towards the
windscreen) and pull towards you - it's just clipped in.
* undo single torx screw (top center) and cluster can be loosened (couple of clips stabilizes it). A pre-plex cluster has 2 connectors at the back, multi-plex has 1 connector.
* fold aside the locking latch on the connector(s) and un-plug.
Once the cluster is loose you can the at the bulb holders at the back of the cluster (if it's pre-plexed).
If it's multiplexed and and the LED has failed (unlikely but possible) the process to replace it is pretty much identical to if one wanted to change the lighting colour of the cluster- see this Howto which also illustrates the cluster removal process.
Did you check that the fog light came on? Might be that the dash indicator light is in parallel with the actual light, and wont come on if say the fuse is blown.

The light comes on I've checked it, the only thing that's missing is the dashboard LED telling me that the light is on. I was worried that I might needed to replace the dashboard.

Unusual that a LED would fail, but it can happen. `Could also be something in the wiring outside the dash making it not know to turn on.
Hmmm, going by the wiring diagrams (not complete for the cluster, sadly) it's likely the BSI should be telling the cluster the fog light is on via the CAN bus, and the cluster decodes the message and turns on the LED, so multiple possible failure points...
Have you got front fogs too? If so, does that indicator turn on?
#5: Re: No Rear fog light warning on dashboard Author: tiagop, Posted: Tue Dec 22, 2015 12:09 pm ---- Sadly it doesn't have front fog lights :P. I will try to turn the fog light on later to test if the light comes up in the dashboard.
#6: Re: No Rear fog light warning on dashboard Author: Sim, Location: West CountryPosted: Wed Dec 23, 2015 3:22 pm ---- off top of my head, dash lights won't come up until full set of fogs (front and rear) are wired up (that on pre-multiplexed though). Sounds like a french way to indicate things gone astray
That probably only when front fogs were fitted before. PeugeotPlanet stills thinks they're there?
#7: Re: No Rear fog light warning on dashboard Author: tiagop, Posted: Thu Dec 24, 2015 7:12 am ---- That's weird, I don't think the car had front fogs.. It only has switch for rear fog light and is a multiplexed unit, will take it to an electrician and when it's solved I will post here

If yours didn't have fronts fitted from the factory, you only need to twist once for the rear.
Easy enough to check what it left the factory with using the VIN on servicebox.
Not sure what the rules are in your part of the world, but in the UK an inoperative tell tale would be a MOT failure
