Door check strap
-> 206 Problems

#1: Door check strap Author: AmyRou PostPosted: Tue Dec 29, 2015 1:41 pm

Hi, I've just replaced the drivers side door check strap, the single securing bolt in to the 'A' frame/pillar has sheared off. It looks like a captured nut within the 'A' frame/pillar, is it accessible to replace the nut?
Many thanks Amy Rolling Eyes

Drill and re-tap the thread a slightly larger size. Drill out the check strap hole to suit the new bolt. Job done.

Rivnut Wink

Technically you need the tool to fit it BUT you can fit a Rivnut using washers & screwing a bolt in to squash it in to position.
