#1: gti 180 unlocking problem bsi reset help Author: Peynut PostPosted: Thu Jan 14, 2016 6:22 am
    ----
hi just got myself a gti180 and when i press key fob it will lock the car and flash but when i try to unlock it nothing, i have to use the key in the door to get back into it and then when i get in the car the alarm goes off until the key goes into the ignition and i turn it on. i have read this bsi reset procedure but some things seems unclear

* Lean through the drivers window, and turn the sidelights on. (Don't open the door.)
* This is called a "Soft Start" for the BSI.
* Let the car finish thinking about everything, and check all the systems etc.
* Start the car. << so after doing the sidelights through the window do you get into the car and turn the ignition on? let it think about everything and then start it or do you do that out of the car ?
..

also i have been told when i have done this i should hold the door lock button for ten seconds . at what point should i do this ?? i have read and looked on forums but its not very clear

thanks in advance for any replies Very Happy

After you have turned the sidelights on, leave the car for a couple of minutes. Think of it as when you boot up a laptop, normally takes a couple of minutes for all the start programs to launch before they all work.
I just turn the key through the window as it's just as easy as opening the door.

You don't need to worry about pressing the key fob after the reset, that's for pre-plexed models

Micro switch inside the key will be broken.

Cheap / easy fix, kits on Ebay if your skilled with a soldering iron OR send the key away for repair.

Can't speak to the specifics of the key linked, but from what's been said on the forum there are multiple, incompatible, version of the transponder board that Peugeot has used - and you need one matching the board in your current key...

Personally I have the equipment and reasonable soldering skills (the switch is big as surface mount components go, and only two connections on opposing sides) , but if I hadn't I'd first check around locally for someone to solder it - like phone repair shops (I know one of the locals used to be into LED colour change back when the phones had monochrome LCD displays and button keypads, and those LED's were much smaller than the button switch is...) We may have changed to touch screens and virtual buttons, but the skills involved to repair today's phones are about the same.

You will also need access to PP2000 and the alpha numeric security code to pair the remote fob and transponder chip to your car.

When you open your current fob, make sure you don't lose the chip, otherwise you're screwed
