#1: Ruined the 206 - Please help! Author: FrankAteMyName, Location: TewkesburyPosted: Sun Jan 17, 2016 3:57 am ---- So here's the deal: It's 4 in the morning - I'm on the way to work. It's pretty chilly out but I take no notice. Around a left hand bend I find myself sliding on a patch of ice. Thud.
Essentially the front drivers wheel made contact with the kerb and blew up the tire on impact. The wheel is now pretty much square.
Drivers wing popped off the lug at the bottom and needs replacing *so does the passenger wing so I'll stick some GTI wings on. (Passenger wing was ruined when I got the car)
Drivers door barely closes and I can see daylight through the top.
Car paintwork is looking pretty poor so I'll probably get it wrapped.
At the roadside I swapped the wheel over so I now have a space saver on and continued on to work. the car pulls to the left quite a lot and to go straight I have to have the wheel in about the 1 o'clock position.
I intend to do as much work as possible myself as funds are tight. Can anyone tell me what could potentially need looking at?
Consider the lesson learned as I will never drive like a t**t in the cold again.

This sounds the most worrying part. You might get away with it being a bent door, but with it barley closing and seeing daylight, sounds more like A post damage, possibly form a bent chassis leg. This could also be the cause of it pulling.
Get it on the slow boat to China.

To be fair I don't see how the door could've made contact with anything but I'm gonna try and borrow a door off a friend and check the fit.
UPDATE: I've found someone reasonably local selling a 206 at 90k miles. Could it be worth grabbing this and potentialld doing an engine swap if required?

Came a cropper to such a thing myself a few years back, although got lucky that I managed to get the speed down before ploughing into a central reservation barrier, and just a smidgeon of front end damage.
Where abouts were you heading when you came off?
Is it the same engine/period? You'll struggle to mix and match multiplex / pre-plex.

It's not even that sharp a bend nor was I going particularly fast. Tyres were all near new as well. Just an inexperienced driver at the wheel IMO aha. It's a 2003 whereas mine was a 2006. It's a MUX as well. Any other factors that might throw a spanner in the works? I mean I'll have 2 complete cars to play with and strip looms if necessary. Seller is gonna grab me the engine code when he gets home. I won't be underestimating the risk of ice next time, that's for sure.

Sounds very close to where mine was, at [what was] the C&G roundabout! (No idea if that's what it's called now).
I've not done a swap so others will advise if there's anything else you need to worry about!

Coming back from Bentham going to Quedgeley (where I used to live, before the M5 had a Southbound J12 exit) but yes... that side of the old roundabout, before they went ahead and re-built all! Hopefully it's better now than it was!
Yes, there's a couple of us active. Shadowstalke is local too!
Didn't know Twiggies had closed, that's a shame - as I used them a bit!
You can try MotorHog (formerly Cleaves) they're not too bad. Other than that we've got a little one up more my way, in Cam. Never used that one though.

The panel gaps may just be here nor there, i would get the wings swapped over and try to allign them
