Rear Light cluster

My Driver side rear light cluster does not come on, when you put your lights on then if you bang it, it comes on.

Does not happen every time, just every now hen ? any ideas

Its a 53 plate GTI 180

Affecting all the lights? ie rear, brake, indicator, and reverse all remain off until banged? If so then likely the ground connection.

If only the rear light then could be the bulb, connection between bulb and bulb holder, power, plug to light, wire to plug...

Simplest first try would be to replace the bulb and see if behaviour improves...
If not start by verifying power at the appropriate pin in the plug while wiggling the wire. Then at the center pin in the bulb holder while wiggling the plug. Look at contacts, bulb holder etc for any corrosion.

When you insert the bulb in the holder, make sure the center contact is springy and puts pressure on the bulb contact as the bulb moves slightly up into the locked-in position

Thank you and its just the maker light that does not work, after a bang all good, lol All other lights work ok
