coolent fan not working

hi I was driving the car today and could smell some thing burning like a wire burning smell then I notice the coolant temp had gone right up u pulled over turned car off and opened the bonnet and something was caught in the fan stopping it from turning and now the fan is not working at all I checked the fuse and that is fine would I need to replace the fan or the fan and whole fan surround

Could be the fan motor has burnt out.

If you have Peugeot Planet you can test the fan easily enough.

or you can unplug the temp. sensor plug,that will make the fan start when you turn the ignition on,this way you can be sure if the cooling fan working or not
