New Com2000 brings new problems

#1: New Com2000 brings new problems Author: tommyb32, Location: East Sussex PostPosted: Tue Feb 09, 2016 2:17 pm
    ----
so just brought a new com2000 for my 03 gti 180 due to an airbag fault, garage had tested things and i also suspected the com2000 as its a regular problem with these cars. I had to get a second hand one but matched up the serials/part numbers, except this one comes with cruise control controller. obviously this wont work on my car but the car should still accept the com2000 unit. Now its all fitted indicators work and seems to be ok except... as soon as i turn the key to ignition the cars side lights turn on even when in the off/auto position.

upon installing the unit i didnt realise the side lights switch actually in the on posistion. so thought this may have messed with the computer, so disconnected the battery and all connections to the com2000 turned the light switch to off then put it all back together. still my side lights are permnantly on.

also airbag fault is still there but im thinking i need to reset the codes to see if its solved the problem? or should it have fixed this up install?

could it be the auto light sensor?
could the com2000 unit not support auto lights? (same serial #)?
is it buggered?

If in all your story I replaced "sidelights" with "dipped beam", it would be exactly the behaviour I'm getting with a my Com2000 replacement.

I suspect rain/light sensor, so bought a replacement, will try it out ASAP

Pp2000 should be able to sort this out. I suspect the light settings might need adjusting. There is an option for daytime running lights. Probably just needs turning off.

daytime running lights only on in 206 if you have it activated using PP2000,and lights comes on when you start the car,and goes off when you turn off the car, maybe the airbag fault is not caused by the com2000 in the first place.
