OK my car has just failed its MOT on rear suspension - apparently I need a new rear axle and I've been quoted MOT for 2nd hand part and fitting - does this sound about right?

is it not the whole rear axle which need replacing then? Just an arm? Literally stuck for what to do! I haven't a clue about these things!
