#1: knocking noise when starting car Author: tommyb32, Location: East SussexPosted: Wed Feb 24, 2016 12:27 pm ---- so im getting a knocking noise when starting the car. once its ticking over it stops, seems to be when the engine is shuddering to life just before it starts to idle. Took it for its MOT today dropped car off and no noise at all, go to pick it up and it's knocking. could it be something the garage has done or something like an engine mount that just had bad timing?
