#1: Key Button Replacement? Author: d4funky1, Posted: Fri Feb 26, 2016 3:35 am ---- Hello Again,
The 206 I purchased has come with 2 keys. 1 is a standard key for using on the door locks and the other is the remote central locking key.
This key will open the car with the door locks no problem but the rubber no longer exists over the buttons you would press to both lock and unlock the car remotely.
Is this something that is easy replaceable or is this a case of a new key and reprogrammed?
Thanks in advance

If you open up your existing key, you will notice 3 main components: Circuit board, blade, transponder. Get a new case off ebay or wherever and transfer all 3 over. The transponder can be easy to miss but it is necessary. Make sure you do this somewhere you're not going to lose the darn thing if you drop it. They have a habit of disappearing forever. Only tool you'll need is a small Philips screwdriver to open the key.

I take it there should be two.
Can these be replaced, what are they called to search for?
Thanks again

Something like 'peugeot 206 remote switch' on eBay should find what you need...
There are folks selling kits with case, battery and 2 switches too. Price roughly dependent on how fast you want it (where it ships from, UK/Europe/Asia).
Replacing the switches requires soldering SMD components. They're large as SMD stuff go, but rather small if you've only done through-hole soldering before.
You might want to look at some SMD soldering tutorials on youtube and then decide if you'll need to find someone to do it for you or try it yourself.

I've ordered the kit (UK based) £3.93 delivered. This one had the Peugeot logo on the back as well.
I've got a guy who's a demon on the soldering iron.
Thanks again

Key parts arrived today.
Switched over the transponder and new battery, soldered the micro switches and into new case.
