#1: 1.1 206 over heating while idling Author: Mattglenn10, Posted: Tue Mar 08, 2016 4:22 pm ---- Hi guys right I've got a problem and il try to explain the best I can.. here goes.
I had a 1999 1.1 206 (125000 miles) which I baught needing a head gasket, I put a head gasket, water pump etc and the car ran perfect. Never a problem with it, it never over heated even while idling.. always sat at just above 70 degrees .. then I crashed it
#2: Re: 1.1 206 over heating while idling Author: Mattglenn10, Posted: Tue Mar 08, 2016 4:24 pm ---- haha soo
I bought a late 2002 1.1 206 with 108000 k miles on it of a friend.. The car has sat for a year but the headgasket was done on it before it was parked up.. I got it threw mot and everything is fine apart from when I have it idling ( and not for very long) water is leaking threw the expansion tank cap and the fans go on it would rise close to 100 degrees.. but even while I'm driving it sits at just below 90 degrees.. why is this? I'm so confused because my 1999 206 never ever went about 75 degrees.. ( p's there still heat coming from the heater..
Please help

#4: Re: 1.1 206 over heating while idling Author: Mattglenn10, Posted: Tue Mar 08, 2016 11:54 pm ---- Hi gazza.. would it still be blowing heat if the thermostat is away? I've still got my crashed one and am debating weather or not to take the engine out before I scrap

It's possible the high speed fan relay is shot meaning it's not kicking in and keeping the temp. lower than 90.

If water is leaking out, that means pressure is also leaking.
For the sake of a fiver it might be worth replacing the cap first and make sure the seal hasn't gone

#9: Re: 1.1 206 over heating while idling Author: Mattglenn10, Posted: Fri Mar 11, 2016 2:13 pm ---- When driving car runs at below 90 but only with idling it overheats and water escapes from header tank??

Despite generating more hear while driving / under load, when moving you have airflow through the radiator. If the fan doesn't come on, you have no airflow when idling.
Turning the interior heat & fan on to max might reduce/slow down heat buildup by pushing some of the heat into the cabin.
