Clutch fork issue
-> 206 Problems

#1: Clutch fork issue Author: Firemoth PostPosted: Sat Apr 16, 2016 7:29 pm

Hi. Got a bit of an odd one with my wife's motor. It's a 2004 206sw 1.4 8v (the tu one). She's lost use of her clutch, the pedal has gone floppy etc. Sounded like the cable had gone so picked one up and drove from bacup to Scarborough to find it's not the cable. The clutch fork is loose. It can move maybe 2 inches up and down, and of only slightly held in the "disengage" position it sounds like a massive tin full of dried peas being shaken. The car can still be driven by floating the gears, and all gears work spot on without any issue, but there's no use of the clutch pedal

What goes on inside the box below the fork is beyond me unfortunately as I've never needed to delve into it so wondering if anyone can make any suggestions? Does it need the box replacing / reconditioning, or is it just clutch parts? I've still got the cable and from what I've read, I'm best to replace that with the clutch anyway. Any pointers appreciated Smile

Remove the gearbox & have a look what's going on.

Need's the gearbox removing to inspect what's going on inside the bell housing, but sounds like an issue with the clutch release bearing either stuck in the pressure plate, slipped off the clutch fork or collapsed.

Where abouts are you located?

Cheers for replies. Thrust bearing collapsed. Clutch replaced and all is well. Except my wallet lol
