Hollow clunking noise in rear
-> 206 Problems

#1: Hollow clunking noise in rear Author: PEUGEOT206DR PostPosted: Fri Apr 22, 2016 8:48 am

I am hearing a hollow thump in the rear when entering or exiting a driveway. The sound is not constant. The car seems to dampen fine while driving and if i shake the car or push down on the rear the noise is not present. Visual inspection yielded no results. Rear brakes are in perfect condition.

Try looking at the rear wheel hub locating arms that run from the centre of the car out to the rear hubs at the end of the trailing arms, there's a bush at each end and when they wear they clonk a bit. I twisted mine and could see metal touching metal when I did.
