#1: Issues 1.4 HDi after garage visit. Author: HDiguy, Location: AyrshirePosted: Fri Apr 29, 2016 6:36 am ---- Have just joined, can anyone please help? Had my 03 plate 1.4 HDi towed to the garage last week after it wouldn't start. Told it was drawing air and the injector pipe harness with primer was replaced. On collecting the car the engine management light was on, mentioned to the garage and they reset it. On driving home I noticed a loud tick from the engine which wasn't there before, and the temperature gauge was moving whilst driving. It would always go to operating temp of 80 and just stay there, now it swings between 75-90 while driving. I left it ticking over outside the house for five minutes and the engine got very hot indeed. It's never been a hot engine, even in heavy traffic.
I asked the garage to have a look at my concerns of the temperature and loud tick but they said it was normal! I didn't have these issues before the injector pipe harness was replaced.
Any ideas please of what this loud tick is? Why is the temp now varying? Many thanks.

The ticking noise sounds like an injector. Temperature should also stick around 80 as you said.
Is the engine light still on?

I confess I know very little about diesel engines (or even petrol ones!) but I thought that ticking noise sounded like an injector - maddening as garage are singing dumb and the engine was so quiet before it went in. Full service history on 87k and the wee car wants for nothing.
And the temperature issue...totally denied they touched the cooling system, but they have done something!
I guess I need to put it into another garage to get these issues repaired. Frustrating because the garage I used seemed to be knowledgeable about peugeot diesels
