#1: Cutting out when accelerating Author: Freddie09, Posted: Wed May 11, 2016 2:08 pm ---- Hi,
I've had my 206 for around 10 month now and the orange engine light has came on and off since I first bought it if I'm honest but I just ignored it as there was no problem with the drive... That said it also had a fault with 'door open' beeping and flashing when the door was shut so I just assumed they were both an electrical fault (strangely enough the door open fault hasn't happened in months) anyway that's off subject.
I noticed that the engine light came on when changing gear and accelerating. There was a very slight judd/Buck and then the engine beep and stayed on until the engine was turned off and started again.
Now when accelerating quite heavily the engine can almost cut out with a big buck almost like stalling and two red lights flash quickly (I'm not sure which as it's just a flash, maybe battery and another). After a few seconds you can accelerate and the car drives smooth again with the orange engine light on.
I had a problem with the resonator falling off when driving and had to be replaced but that was due to a lot of corrosion.
Finding the problem to more curiosity than anything as I plan on getting a new car in the next few weeks however that said I would like to fix the problem and keep the car rather than sell it on with this problem.
Any ideas appreciated! Thanks.

Needs scanning with diagnostic equipment.
Cross your fingers you haven't caused expensive / long term damage by continuing to use the car & ignore the engine diagnostic warning light when it first come on.

Is there anything I could check myself without using a diagnostic kit. The electrics in this car are all over the place anyway..
Maybe someone with good car engine knowledge

I took it to a garage and they didn't really know what it was but then they cleaned out the throttle body and it never did it since- you could always start there. I would get it scanned and get some codes up to fully fix your issue.

You could start at the top of this list and work your way down it until the problem is cured. It might be an expensive way to do it, but at least you'll save the £20 or so getting the codes read at a garage.
