#1: Radio help please..please..please! Author: Potter260, Posted: Mon Jul 25, 2016 7:48 am ---- Hi All,
Please help!! Having twisted my Dads arm he purchased me a 206 quicksilver I had really liked for a while, so I finally saved up and made a purchase and really like it however…….!! The radio and air con don’t work! And I only have one broken key Not too concerned about AC as hubby said it’s probably a relay by the fan or gas and he can sort it but I quote “I don’t do electrics love” so please all you experts can you help!
It’s a 52 plate and has the standard stereo and steering wheel controls fitted (multifunction type) the cd eject works but that’s it! I have no display on the upper dash and the time and date holds no memory, got dad to have a quick look and he fitted a non gen head unit just in case the radio was broken and had the same problem, cd makes a noise but no action! He also mentions an additional red wire that seems to run from the fuse board (F6) (to the radio connectors?? He thought it might be new / extra permanent 12v ?? the upper display is also dull! I can sort bulbs but as mentioned it only shows a time and date no prompt to enter codes for the radio etc. and loses memory?? and to top it off I have no manual for radio codes etc., so fingers crossed you can all help as I don’t want to hear anymore “I told you not to buy that car”
Cheers all,

So that might be one problem .. the BSI isn't recognising the original radio and it's preventing the new one from working.
An non-gen head unit won't use the top display. Only the Peugeot supplied units do that as they don't have one of their own.
If it's losing memory on the radio, you might need to swap the yellow and red 12v feeds over.

Thanks for the prompt response! I will give that a go! swapping the original red and yellow over! not to sure of the additional red that comes from the fuse box though! ?? but will give it a go,
Q: I assume swapping wires is to suit fitting a new headunit ??
thanks for all your help,

Author: gazza82, Location: South BucksPosted: Mon Jul 25, 2016 1:15 pm ---- I replaced the original in an older 206 (2001) and the Sony unit came with a connector that plugged into the radio and the original end of the loom. That had an easy to swap over pair red & yellow and I had to swap them to keep the memory.
