#1: Help identify this part please! Author: Muddytoast, Posted: Mon Aug 15, 2016 12:35 pm ---- This ring is rattling over bumps, the other side is tight but this one spins and has movement to rattle.

The play is up and down, as shown in this image.
Worth replacing? I assume it's the rubber seal that needs replacing not the heat shield ring as it look as thin on the other side?

#5: Re: Help identify this part please! Author: gpvecchi, Location: ItalyPosted: Tue Aug 16, 2016 6:52 pm ---- I replaced mine because of a tinging sound. If it's more a knock, it's the joint.
#6: Re: Help identify this part please! Author: Muddytoast, Posted: Wed Aug 17, 2016 10:53 am ---- It's not a knocking it is definitely a metallic rattle. Like shaking the washer on and nut.
Wiggling that ring makes the exact same sound, The question is what is allowing the ring to move??

#8: Re: Help identify this part please! Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Wed Aug 17, 2016 2:30 pm ---- There are little tangs that sit in the gap in the hub to ball joint mount. If the tang is squashed flat it will allow the shield to move about.
