I've got the second time in 40 years a failing MOT due to rear axle on my 206. Fixed two years ago an axle from axle direct, did last just 18000 miles, and dead again.
Cannot be recommended to buy there. Theoretically did they not make it to the end of the warranty, which is 2 years. But thats, how I know now, a fat lie, their bad work does not last that long. And would they pay compensation?
We know the answer I guess ...
I loose now not only a well running car, pretty good tyres, and lots of money for another car, I get also nothing on the scrap: scrap is bad now, only 20 quit.
I am sure there where many others with the same experience, and do not forget: The real evil doer was Peugoet. They kn ew since ages that this axle is a horrible design, but they where not ashamed to built it into cars again.
They pay now too: Never again on my side a Peugeot, not even for free. No thanks.

Thanks, axle direct, I hope many read about you and your business dies for good.
And hopefully is the Peugeot sales gone forever too, except they pay my (our) losses.

If the rest of car is in good condition, sell the parts? People in the Facebook group often go after parts.

And meh, there is another axle company... of which I hear nothing but awesome about.

My car is a SW, thats rare, at least here about. Then are nearly all 206 disappeared from the roads, scrapped for similar reasons. Even the large local Peugeot dealer has removed the Peugeot sign from his building. They sell now only other cars.
Why that?
Answer is obvious, they had too much trouble.
You are right, there are still some fans out there, or others with a dead engine, but, miraculous, a good rear axle. My engine got this year a new head gasket, and I broke the sharp edges inside the burning chamber. Since then is the engine better than a new one, and no longer like a diesel when putting the pedal down.. It has also new spark plugs, new oil pan, and the cat is perfect too according to MOT test, the last 4 years was part synthetic engine oil used. I have a new auxillary belt loose... rear tyres 6 months old, Pirellies, not even 5000 miles ...
The car is nearly rust free and could do it some more years.

But...
The steering is wearing out, may not pass next MOT, the wheel bearings are gone (less than 90000 miles old, my previous Astra was during 14 years 160000 miles running on the first clutch and wheel bearings, and of course never changed a rear axle), indicator stops working above 25C and switches then the head lights on ...
front axles has issues ... AC not working ... The recent installed spead hump on my work place touches the floor... the ride height is standard, but I hit many speed humps ...
I am just tired. I am an old guy and had never a car what needed so much fixes. As I hear are new Peugeots also full of design bull sh.t $^*($!!

The car is parking on the street (live in a flat), so no chance to pieces it. Insurance runs out in two days, and thats it, I cannot wait for the fans.

Peugeot means to me now: Buy cheap and pay later. If I knew at purchasing day what I am going to face I should have bought a Mercedes. That would cost a little more, but save me a lot of trouble and I could sell it now., making it actually cheaper than the Peugeot. Got it?

Though I do not experience the same level of issues like you had. Anyways, each to their own and good luck!

Nor me. My 206 hit the dizzy heights of 16 years old this year, and has recently clocked 111, 111 miles and the axle (original) has only just gone despite being lowered for the best part of 8/9 years, and I'm doing the repair job myself.

In fact, the most the car has ever cost me in any one go is £300 when I got stung by a main dealer that was repairing the car under insurance for drums that were stuck, after an accident I'd had.

I guess it's just luck of the draw!
