Evening All,

My 18 year old son has a 2005, 1.1 and called me today explaining the car was going into gear, but was revving but not engaging correctly, with the car doing little more than limping along..

Knowing that he'd been complaining of poor fuel consumption lately, I started to think after a quick online search that it was The MAP sensor, mixing badly.

However, getting home tonight and trying myself, I find whilst it slips into gear, it simply revs and does little more than crawl. Strangely though, it slips into reverse, bites correctly and will reverse without issue.

One other point, when he finally got the car home ( short 2 mile drive), he explained there was a strong burning smell.

Before I go down the garage route, does anyone have any insight they can share at this point ?

Thanks in advance.

Sounding clutch related.

Valeo, Sachs or LUK for the 3 part kit.

Also require driveshaft oil seals, 2 liters of correct spec oil, new clutch cable & the thrust input bearing for gearbox

Also a 206 is nearly a ton in weight, the 1.1 is known to be not good on fuel unless on a run.

Clutch.

Slipping clutch smells lovely, but is a bad sign indeed.
