#1: Need welding on bump stop mount to pass MOT Author: Nikon1149, Location: BristolPosted: Thu Nov 10, 2016 8:19 pm ---- I don't know anything about Welding really but I've been failed on my '02 plate 206 on two bits of welding, one looks straight forward enough but the other looks like I might struggle. It's the bit of metal that usually attaches the rear suspension bump stop. I have attached photos, can someone please tell me if a decent welder should have much trouble doing this? And how do I re attach the bump stop?
Oh it turns out I can't attach pictures unless they are hosted online. Any advise or thoughts regardless?

#3: Re: Need welding on bump stop mount to pass MOT Author: Nikon1149, Location: BristolPosted: Fri Nov 11, 2016 8:06 am ---- After having a good look I've realised the mount / bracket is the part that's rusted through and it's removable. I tried looking for the part but nothing on eBay, this is the only website I can find selling what looks like the part
But it's £33 including postage and I would love to find it on sale elsewhere. Maybe a scrappy?

516729 Block Bracket £3.95
517317 Socket Screw £1.99
Who said dealers were over priced

Is there a website I can go to with those part numbers or something?
Thanks for the help
#7: Re: Need welding on bump stop mount to pass MOT Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Fri Nov 11, 2016 9:23 am ---- You walk into the dealers showroom. Look for the parts desk and ask for part number 516729 or all of the above. Hand over payment and after a couple of days they will get the parts in if not already in stock.
#8: Re: Need welding on bump stop mount to pass MOT Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Fri Nov 11, 2016 9:29 am ---- Ring the parts counter and ask them if they are in stock. If the dealership is close, pop in and speak to them. If the parts aren't in stock then if you talk to them nicely then they may put them on the VOR order.

If part is not in stock they order it for you from Coventry or even France no questions asked Never had issues

Try getting SP grill clips...
No, R&D are pretty solid. Helped me well in a few instances. Nice guys there too.
