#1: Airbags Author: Nick1981-1 PostPosted: Sun Nov 20, 2016 1:28 pm

Hi All, I have replaced the seats in the 206cc with much better condition black and red leather seats I got from ebay. They are exactly the same apart from they don't have side airbags in them. I disconnected the airbag wiring under the seat expecting to have to fit resistors but the airbag light has not come on. The airbag light lights up as normal on ignition check and goes out. I have had it on a snap on code reader and the airbag module is functioning normal with no codes. I would have thought the airbag light would have come on with me removing the seat airbags. My mechanic has said just to tape them up and put them under the carpet. I am just curious as to know why it didn't trigger the airbag light. Its a 2001 2.0 petrol model.

Thanks
Guys

Nick

Good question. Interested in the answer myself as I am looking into buckets for the 2001 model.

2001 is changeover year between nonplexed & multiplexed electrical systems.

The airbag systems are controlled differently between the 2 different electrical systems.

I would guess the OPs car is non plexed seeing as its not stuck the airbag warning light on - or the side airbag bulb in the cluster is blown / missing.

What colour where the plugs on the SEAT side of the wiring loom?

OP already stated that the light comes on during check when ignition is turned on Wink

MrBSI, the non-plex doesn't turn on the airbag light when the airbag is missing? I am starting to think that the non-plex cars are easier to work with, and more forgiving...

MrBSI, thankyou for your reply. The airbag light does light up as normal when the ignition is turned on and goes out when it has done its check. I guess my car is a non plexed one then. That has saved me having to put resistors on there. Many thanks for your help.

Probably pre-plexed if 2001 CC like ours but to check what is the remote audio stalk shape? .. long and thin or squat and flat?

Radio will also tell you as the pre-plex is not rectangular and if original has the digital screen in the radio.

Hiya Gazza, its a kenwood radio in, not factory. The radio stalk is long and thin.

Pre-plex. Like us Smile

Have a chat to Halfords or something, ask for a stalk adapter. Should work.

Your top display won't display radio stuff though. That only works with stock radios.
