There is a MAP sensor.

So it's a MAP system rather than a MAF system
Thanks again. I need look no further

FWIW a faulty map sensor can cause driveability issues but NOT trigger the engine diagnostic warning light as the values are still within spec.
Ive fitted a new throttle pot & map sensor this year to cure driveability issues on my TU3 powered 206.
The throttle pot design has been modified slightly but the new part is still plug & play.
