#1: Rear side damage Author: cmann, Posted: Wed Aug 09, 2017 2:55 pm ---- Hi all,
Here's a short version of a very long story
I have owned and worshiped my gti 180 for 8 years.
5 years ago my wife had an accident (non claimed) and put a HUGE dent in the rear drivers side rear panel. I vowed to have it fixed and after wasting 5 years im looking back at fixing it again.
Here's the question, how difficult will it be to remove the panel and replace it?
Ive had a look and its spot welded along the roof, pillar and floor and seam welded at the boot lining.
I am not a proficient welder, i have a friend who claims to be.
has anyone done this job. or if this is a job to be left to the pro's whats the realistic £ to get it fixed.
Thanks for reading.

Your talking about cutting out a section of the body shell & then welding in a replacement panel.
Its the strength of the body shell as a whole that protects you in the event of an accident.
Go find a NON insurance approved body shop for a quote to repair it.
Dont bother with insurance approved body shops as they will quote loads to repair it as they dont want private jobs like this as there have a never ending supply of damaged cars to repair via the insurance industry.
