Hi, i have a problem

the engine works fine but have some sound intermittent... sounds like the valves or diesel motor...

in Diagbox Scanner shows me this

p0553
p0141
p0012

i think the P0012 it's related with the sound (like a timing retarded)

please help me

If you've had the belt done, then could be the usual 180/RC issue that the exhaust cams jumped a tooth or two.

The culprit is the P0012 fault:
"A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 1)

I have me old Jag spitting out this together with the P0011 (over-advanced), and has this rattling "diesel" noise after a lengthier run on a motorway, also "hunting" on cold idle.

In the best case, it's the sludge that's clogged up your VVT oil pathways, so a careful engine oil flush (as it's an older engine) and oil replacement is in order. Some other (less lucky) causes been mentioned already in this thread and also in e.g. www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-NuqnhPu-8 and a TSB for Fords (an S-Type is a Mondeo after all..:)

I've found a remedy temporarily that the rattling can be silenced by switching the engine off, then back on, and then sharply revving it once (or just start driving). Note that rattling stays if you don't switch engine off/on before (to do with oil pressure probably)

Good luck!
