#1: Tribute to the 206 gti Author: stomdk, Posted: Sun Oct 15, 2017 6:05 pm ---- Just wanted to share...
So I have previously had several 205 gtis 1,9, and love the car, but reliability really just was never the main strength.
Anyway, me and 2 mates of mine were to compete in three 8 hrs long distance races, on a only racetrack here in Sweden-
Rules are simple, you may use the car for a total of 3 races. After which the car has to be donated to charity.
So we had to find a car that would be ok fast, and reliable...and cheap
Our main choices were..
Volvo S40 T4, mot lickley to blow up
Golf VR6, nice but we will be spending more money on petrol than BA does.
Nissan Almera Gt.. could not find one...
And a 206 Gti
We choose the 206, since it had already been lowered, and some guy had already fitted the car with a sport exhaust and short sift kit.
We then turned it into a 206 Superlegera R (basically removed as much as possible), and off we went.
Car has now done 2 of thees 8 hrs races, and we are to compete in the last one this coming Saturday.
Car has covered a total of 160t km and still does not bun any oil/water, still fells tight and nippy. We are hoping for a podium finish this time around, hope she will not give up on us and throw in the towel prematurely....
