#1: Multiplexed??? Author: Rubyoptics, Location: Warsaw - PolandPosted: Wed Jan 24, 2018 6:51 pm ---- I was reading through the FAQ section and in particular the article on multiplexing by Lee (which was both useful and interesting - thank-you very much).
I'm sure that you guys and gals have answered this question a hundred times for a hundred different people and i'm sorry to be yet another one in the queue, but I'm not sure if my car is multiplexed or not, and as i'm doing some work fairly soon which will require me to disconnect the battery, it's fairly important to know.
My car is a 2003 206 CC 2.0. So date wise it should be multiplexed right? But later in the article Lee states that the best way to tell is by the radio control stalk.....my car doesn't have a radio control stalk??
Could anyone help me with this? My VIN is VF32DRFNF42451866 if that helps at all.
Many thanks again for any help or advice you can offer.

#3: Re: Multiplexed??? Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Wed Jan 24, 2018 8:09 pm ---- I'm sure anything 51 plate onwards was completely multiplexed.
#4: Re: Multiplexed??? Author: gazza82, Location: South BucksPosted: Wed Jan 24, 2018 9:40 pm ---- Airbag: If you have round holes at the back of the steering wheel it's pre-plex. If the holes are rectangular, multiplex.
Radio: preplex has a built in display and is a non-rectangular shape. You need an adaptor to fit a non-OEM radio too. Multiplex has display in mfd and rectangular dash hole.
Remote: Long and thin; pre-plex. Shorter and flat; multiplex. If ypu don't have one what shape/size is the hole in column surround.
MFD: I think pre-plex has 4 bulbs, multiplex has only 3.
There might be more ...

I'll check the steering wheel when i get it back from the garage later today. The OEM stereo isn't fitted, but the previous owner did give it to me and it is the Clarion unit without a display so I guess it's looking like it's a plexed vehicle? Good and bad sides to this i guess....certainly makes disconnecting the battery a lot more scary!!!
#6: Re: Multiplexed??? Author: RocknRolla_zg, Location: CroatiaPosted: Thu Jan 25, 2018 9:24 am ---- Non of the standard radios in 206 come with display. Only display you have is on top of the vent dash. The one that reads radio station names etc. If you have a display with fuel consumption, and temperature reading its is multiplexed. If your car is made in late 2003, then it is multiplexed. If you have the same steering wheel as in 2004 models then it multi.

#8: Re: Multiplexed??? Author: Rubyoptics, Location: Warsaw - PolandPosted: Thu Jan 25, 2018 7:44 pm ---- Thanks Gazza - the first one is definitely the one I have sitting on a shelf in my garage. So, I have a multiplexed car......good to know! Now to go read Lee's battery disconnection guide MANY MANY times!!!
Thank you all for your help, I realise i'm asking a lot of questions so thank you for your patience and taking the time to answer.
#9: Re: Multiplexed??? Author: RocknRolla_zg, Location: CroatiaPosted: Thu Jan 25, 2018 8:09 pm ---- Gazza you where right! My bad..They did actually put those in begining, all untill 2002...that made me thinking that our cars are old
#10: Re: Multiplexed??? Author: gazza82, Location: South BucksPosted: Thu Jan 25, 2018 10:15 pm ---- When I went to test drive my 1.4 hdi it had a big hole in the dash ... where cassettes went. So part of the deal was to get a radik/cd fitted. When I picked it up they apologised as they weren't able to get the rear speakers working ...
I said that was ok because unless they were going to install some, they weren't likely too ... the Style only had fronts!!
We went through a few 2nd hand RD1s in my daughters CC. It wouldn't give the cds back. So that one got a Sony unit instead.
#11: Re: Multiplexed??? Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2018 10:19 pm ---- My 206 had the RB3 & 6 disc cd changer factory fitted, I soon got rid of the RB3 as I don't own any tapes & replaced it with a second hand RD3 so I now have single cd radio in dash & 6 disc changer in the boot.
RB3 has been gathering dust for the last 10 years.
#12: Re: Multiplexed??? Author: Rubyoptics, Location: Warsaw - PolandPosted: Fri Jan 26, 2018 7:57 am ---- I know how you feel MrBsi, I've only had mine for two months and I'm collecting unused parts at an alarming rate!
#13: Re: Multiplexed??? Author: Rubyoptics, Location: Warsaw - PolandPosted: Fri Jan 26, 2018 8:00 am ---- One follow up question if I May? Does the fact that the car is multiplexed make it easier to install an aftermarket ECU if I wanted to at some point in the future?

Knowing Peugeot .. no. Probably harder as ecu and BSI are interlinked.
But I'm not an expert .. there are probably owners on here who are better placed.
