Temperature Sensor Wiring Help / Temp Gauge Not Working
-> 206 Problems

#1: Temperature Sensor Wiring Help / Temp Gauge Not Working Author: MadDirtMonkey, Location: Lincolnshire PostPosted: Sat Feb 03, 2018 3:50 pm

I was wondering if somebody could shed some light on this for me - I recently had my coil pack die and while I was replacing it, I spotted two bare wires floating around under my bonnet which are attached to the sensor on my radiator (engine is a 1.6L 16v petrol - car is a 2001 GLX).

(I've taped them up to keep them isolated)

The temperature gauge on my poor 206 hasn't worked since I bought it (occasionally when it's cold it likes to rocket to the top and tell me to stop, and then changes its mind) and when I plug the pug into a PP2000 I get a fault code saying bad signal received from the temperature sensor so I'm assuming it's all related?

Naturally I've been looking around on the web trying to work out where the hell these two wires are supposed to be connected, and cannot for the life of me work it out as it seems my radiator isn't OEM and I wouldn't usually have a sensor here. And of course the Haynes manual for my car has every engine except for the one that I have, so is utterly useless.

Is this sensor what is causing the fault code and the dysfunctional gauge, or is that related to a different sensor? And what's the deal with the sensor on my radiator that it seems only I have?

I'm at a loss so any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
MDM

Where that hose to the right joins the engine is there not a sensor on the opposite side of the block?

Your problem is simple,as the temp sensor fitted on the radiator is not OEM,as NO Peugeot (not only 206) comes with a Temp. sensor in that location,the one on 206 or other models is fitted on the coolant housing,and it should be green with green wire.

and you need to undo all the wiring to the after market sensor as this is considered as a short wire in the CAN system.
