Stop warning light & noisy fan
-> 206 Problems

#1: Stop warning light & noisy fan Author: UserError PostPosted: Sun Feb 18, 2018 3:17 pm
    ----
Hi,
I'm on a steep 206 learning curve as my son recently bought one and my elderly neighbour has just got a 2001 1.1 206.

Unfortunately literally on getting it home (private sale), the "Stop" warning light comes on. There are no other warning lights lit.

I have a cheap OBD reader which I plugged in but it gave no codes through Torque Lite

Also, when left to idle when the cooling fan comes on it makes a bit of a racket - a low-pitched shriek - possibly dry bearing type noise and it sounds like the fan blades are catching the casing or similar.

The temperature stays rock solid & the fan cuts in & out nicely.

Could these be related?

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

Is the STOP light on or flashing?

2001 - is it multiplexed? see link as it explains how.

As for the fan, the motor & fan is easily replaced once both parts of the front grill is removed - get new grill clips as they usually break.

Make sure you get the correct fan motor as there are a few different connector plug used depending on age / spec of 206.
