#1: 206 from France Author: dedeno1, Location: SAINT NAZAIRE (FRANCE)Posted: Thu Jul 12, 2018 8:34 am ---- After my short presentation, now a longer presentation to my 206 !
First, I'm sorry if my English isn't perfect...
So those pictures were taken when I bought it in 2011 :
I use it daily to go to work, on weekend for meeting (for exemple : at the Vintage Heroes in Pornichet) :
trackday (for exemple : at Le Mans BUGATTI) :
With "NASCAR" :
and on competition (for exemple : slalom) :
Because of FIA group N regulation, i've not any modifications, just :
- aviation hoses for brake with MOTUL RBF 600
- Foudre wheels with TOYO R1R
- intermediate steel line without exhaust and flame arrestor
- final sport steel exaust like OMP
- original exhaust manifold without catalytic cartridge
- original air box but with front suction
- 2 bucket seats with 4 points harness
Next time :
- intermediate custom stainless line without exhaust and flame arrestor
- final custom stainless exhaust (with removable dbkiller for daily)
- sports suspensions lowered -40 mm (today originals suspensions with +200 000 km / +125 000 miles)
- create front brake bailer
#2: Re: 206 from France Author: Sim, Location: West CountryPosted: Thu Jul 12, 2018 10:03 am ---- Hello there engine friend
On my girlfriend's CC there is the same 1.6 16v (NFU), very nice to see your one being tracked as well as daily!
This makes me wanna do a compression test on the CC, as it feels underpowered even as a road car, or maybe just too heavy?
Have you got more photos of your modifications?
#3: Re: 206 from France Author: dedeno1, Location: SAINT NAZAIRE (FRANCE)Posted: Thu Jul 12, 2018 10:50 am ---- CC weight 160 kg (350 pounds) more than a three doors with our engine ! Sure it's the problem !
I never think to take pictures when I work on my car ... but I can take pictures next time !
The two bucket seats are being installed ! The driver seat is installed but too far from the steering wheel ! I'll change that next weekend !

Out of interest, what coolant temperatures are you getting on average and when stuck in traffic? Have you ever had a fan come on after switching the engine off?
#6: Re: 206 from France Author: dedeno1, Location: SAINT NAZAIRE (FRANCE)Posted: Mon Jul 30, 2018 6:28 am ---- Sorry for my late answer !
Sure, it's often surprising, especially on big circuits where there are Porsche, Ferrari, racing cars !
When I'm not stuck in traffic 90°C (194°F) and when I'm stuck in traffic 100°C (212°F) until the fan turn on !
When the weather is very hot (like last weeks with more than 30°C (86°F)) it's not uncommon that the fan turn on after switching the engine off !

No worries, we all have lives, and I actually like the slow pace of these forums

Thanks for the temperatures, it looks like these NFU engines like to run hot.
So if I see my water temp gauge running 100, I shouldn't panic (as long as the fans kick in haha!)
Due to convection, I notice the coolant temperature goes way above 90 after I switch the engine off, due to coolant not being pumped around anymore.
I still cannot crack the mystery why the power steering pressure sensor (only on ESP/ASR models) managed to break itself when driving on a hot day and leaked out all fluid (see this post, 3nd photo) -- they should be able to tolerate high temperatures inside and out! Or maybe there was some air in the system or it was low on fluid?..
I also noticed our CC is missing from factory (confirmed on ServiceBox with others) the bonnet soundproofing and engine underbody guards (left, right, and bottom) -- is this all to improve airflow -> cooling?
Also engine would run hotter due to the CC being heavier than a 206 (as you said)..
Anyhow, I bet these 1.6 16v feel less crammed in when they are in their element - the 307 No wonder 206 Haynes manual does not include NFU engines, so I always have to look into the Haynes for 307
#8: Re: 206 from France Author: Rubyoptics, Location: Warsaw - PolandPosted: Mon Sep 03, 2018 11:47 pm ---- I hope you don't mind me jumping in as well Sim, but I notice the same high temperatures on my 2.0 cc as well. During the hottest days of the summer I even resorted to running the heater on max to shed some heat from the engine, which was less than pleasant! Strangely I do have bonnet sound proofing, but maybe this is a difference between the 1.6 and the 2.0?
#9: Re: 206 from France Author: dedeno1, Location: SAINT NAZAIRE (FRANCE)Posted: Tue Sep 04, 2018 6:37 am ---- I had bonnet sound proofing on my 1.6 but I took of because of use on track ... fire hazard after session ...

I don't recall if you said this happened multiple times, but perhaps it was weakened due to a manufacturing flaw?

It's also there to protect your paintwork!
#12: Re: 206 from France Author: dedeno1, Location: SAINT NAZAIRE (FRANCE)Posted: Wed Sep 05, 2018 6:18 am ---- I prefer avoid fire on my car to repaint my hood !
I removed my bonnet sound proofing since 7 years and I haven't any problems with my paintwork !
#13: Re: 206 from France Author: Sim, Location: West CountryPosted: Wed Sep 05, 2018 8:32 am ---- If I enter the VIN (for 206 CC year 2007 1.6 16v RPO 10977 with elongated air filter box), bonnet soundproofing (#5 P/N 7979 F0) doesn't come with the car:
If not going by VIN (just choosing either 3-door or 2-door variants), it comes with options:
- BONNET SOUND PROOFING - BULKHEAD + BONNET SOUND-PROOFING UNTIL RPO 09123
- BONNET+BULKHEAD+POWER TRAIN SOUNDPROOFING
- SINCE RPO 09124 UNTIL RPO 09834
- UNDERBONNET + BULKHEAD SOUNDPROOFING SINCE RPO 09835
- BULKHEAD + BONNET + GMP SOUNDPROOFING SINCE RPO 09835
Then the whole underbody protection is missing from factory on coupe cabriolets (even when not going through our VIN), such as engine under cover 7013 F4/AE and air deflectors 7013 X5/Z0. A common keyword I observed in lacking of such parts is "GMP SOUNDPROOFING" not being present.
#14: Re: 206 from France Author: dedeno1, Location: SAINT NAZAIRE (FRANCE)Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2019 8:21 am ---- Yesterday it was the oil pan' seal chang, my first !
I don't speak about oil change !
At the beginning, I removed the back piece of exhaust manifold, I took the opportunity to take some picts since last time when I removed the two catalytic's cartridge
And then, "surprises" began : to remove the oil pan I have to remove the air conditioning compressor (so to remove the accessory belt) to loosen its support (the 4th screw being behind the compressor) then I have to loosen the gimbal's engine support and to play with screwdriver, at the right places, to remove the oil pan
At the disassembly :
The oil pan :
The crankshaft :
The wheel and the chain to train the oil pump ?
We allways see the marking on the crankshaft !
The inlet filter :
Then the reassembly :
Cleaned oil pan :
Cleaned back engine where the new seal will be hanging :
Cleaned inlet filter :
And then full oil and after 30 min drive, the oil is always transparent
