Bit unusual for a welch plug to "corrode" like that .. but getting it out destroys the evidence so I can't say for sure.

All I know is it has had proper levels of coolant/anti-freeze, etc. Use "blue" coloured as that was what Peugeot sold me many years ago when I had to swap out the thermostat unit. Fully drained down now as I took the rad out to retrieve a lost "nut" .. !

Brilliant thanks for the confirmation. Hopefully I don't have to investigate that far - but if I do, at least I now have an idea of where to look! Smile

Quick update: I refilled the coolant last night and I'm pleased to say there are no leaks (although it may have a small airlock which is causing it to create bubbles in the expansion tank).

Battery was cream-crackered (it was already well over it's guarantee life so sitting finished it off). Dropped a new battery in and it started first time. I think is was February/March when it was last started and moved into the back of the car port!

Left it running until it got warm and all nice and dry under the engine ..

All I need to do now is an oil and filter change .. the air filter was changed last night and the old one was black possibly due to the soot in the engine bay from a leaking manifold to cat pipe joint .. must have been sucked up through the intake as well as coating the engine! .. and it will need a new downpipe to flexi clamp as the one I have is too big.

Then a brake fluid change and off for an MOT!

Oil and filters now changed, new clamp on the downpipe to flexi, and nice new battery, although the battery strap mount snapped off one side of the battery box when I nipped the bolts up .. tie-wrap to the rescue

So just the brake fluid and a long overdue wash and polish, then sort out the MOT. Then it will be ready to use again in an emergency as I can insure and tax it as I need!

Oh and the knocking exhaust ... due to a stretched and perished mounting rubber at rear. They weren't that old either ... power/super flex next
