It has a newish battery and the alternator is working good.
Been told it could be a simple earth problem but not sure.
Cheers Pete.

Also make sure the cr@ppy quick-release battery terminal is tight and if you have the right height battery. It the terminals press on the battery box it is too short.

#7: Re: Need a auto electrician gravesend kent Author: 206pete, Posted: Mon Aug 20, 2018 4:33 pm ---- what i mean by newish battery is 18 months old
#8: Re: Need a auto electrician gravesend kent Author: gazza82, Location: South BucksPosted: Mon Aug 20, 2018 6:43 pm ---- Has it been left to discharge at all?
I had one that was fine at starting when cold but once warmed up was just like it had been left overnight with the lights on ... when it cooled off a bit it was fine again.
#9: Re: Need a auto electrician gravesend kent Author: 206pete, Posted: Mon Aug 20, 2018 7:08 pm ---- Hi, yes it was left for 2 weeks while on holiday but it was playing up before we went on holiday. When we got home i had to jump start it after about half a mile i lost throttle , turned it of then when restarting the rev counter went out of line.
Cheers , Pete.

If it went flat after two weeks and is only 18 months old, it isn't right .. even a three year battery should last longer than that if treated properly. I've had them last 8 to 9 years.

I think that is the next step to try a new battery
