#1: GTI exh manifold Author: iancav6, Location: rugbyPosted: Sat Sep 08, 2018 3:14 pm ---- The exh manifold on my old black GTI had always had a rattle ever since i bought it 6.5 years ago but never bothered about it.
Gave the car to my parents a couple of years ago as theirs packed up and over that time it progressively got worse, not that they noticed.
Now got the car back and getting ready to sell so thought I'd best fix it.
Surprisingly all the nuts came undone ok,had to remove header tank and undone the rh engine mount to make just enough wriggle room to extract from the car.
10 mins with the arc welder had the pipes firmly connected and back on the car in no time.
Quick road test confirmed its all quiet, put it in a high gear going up a steep hill and gave it some gas and no noise at all.
Result..
