#1: My 206 hdi has developed a loud ticking noise Author: Tooly, Posted: Thu Feb 21, 2019 8:26 am ---- My 206 diesel 2003 has developed a loud ticking noise from the front drivers side engine bay. Had it for about a month now but it’s getting louder you can hear it in the car. The engine seems to run ok with no problems or lights on the dash and the ticking appears at idle 800rpm but disappears at 1200 rpm does any body know what could be causing this am I looking at a major repair job.

Either way I'd try and locate the problem and get it fixed. Losing a timing belt is pretty catastrophic for an engine!

A good tip is to place a screwdriver to a surface and put your ear to the handle. You can hear what going on underneath. handy to listen to stuff. Just be careful not to hurt your self in any way. Use common sense!
