#1: 206 sw 2.0HDI Won't start - Immobiliser fault Author: commandosqueak, Location: Lower SlaughterPosted: Fri May 31, 2019 10:28 am ---- Car has been running fine, Couple of issues but unrelated. then went to go to work his morning put key in and says immobliser fault. Not had the key apart so thats not an issue. I plugged in my pp2000 and run a global test and it cannot communicate with the Engine ECU. I've heard water can travel along cables to ecu so I took the ecu out and pulled the plugs off, all clean no issues. Gave them a blast of electrical contact cleaner and plugged back in. No change. open to ideas.

Worth trying a new battery and I hope that doesn't sound patronising in any way!

#4: Re: 206 sw 2.0HDI Won't start - Immobiliser fault Author: commandosqueak, Location: Lower SlaughterPosted: Sat Jun 01, 2019 11:16 am ---- Ok so changed the battery and no difference. Thanks though cause it was low and did need changing soon.
Anyone else got any ideas? Dunno where to start with this, Even diagnostics show no comms to ecu. Could it be ecu? Unlikely but possible? wiring somewhere maybe? Bad Earth?
Please guys I rely on my car to get me to work, Had to take a days holiday already
EDIT
ok so checked the earths, one of them has been moved but I have cleaned them all up so they are good. Key bong test is successful. Fuses are ok, even swapped to double check. Its in eco mode now.

Seeing as your SW is multiplexed, there most likely isn't a fuel cut-off inertia switch in the engine bay, otherwise I'd recommend to press it..
#6: Re: 206 sw 2.0HDI Won't start - Immobiliser fault Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Thu Jun 06, 2019 3:01 pm ---- Had this on my old multiplexed 206 a few times & it was a software bug, rebooting the BSI unit correctly would cure it so it would start & a BSI software update fixed it for good.
#7: Re: 206 sw 2.0HDI Won't start - Immobiliser fault Author: commandosqueak, Location: Lower SlaughterPosted: Thu Jun 06, 2019 5:50 pm ---- Thanks Mr BSI, How much you reckon that will cost me? I tried a BSI reset but It was rushed. I have taken the battery off now and put on charge to give it a good charge. I will put it back on the car on saturday. Hopefully it will temp sort it. Running the race car to work is costing a fortune in fuel haha

Might plug pp2000 back in and see if that can shed any light on it. Problem is the nearest peugeot garage is gloucester which is 20 odd miles and the car wont start to get me there

#11: Re: 206 sw 2.0HDI Won't start - Immobiliser fault Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Wed Jun 26, 2019 1:32 pm ---- The immobiliser system transponder aerial runs through the COM2000 unit.
Do you have another COM 2000 you can try?
Doesn't have to be an exact match for your 206 spec - early Partner / Berlingo vans use the same spec COM 2000 as the 206.
#12: Re: 206 sw 2.0HDI Won't start - Immobiliser fault Author: commandosqueak, Location: Lower SlaughterPosted: Thu Jun 27, 2019 8:31 pm ---- Nope the other one i have is buggered. I will see if I can pick one up from a scrap yard. if necessary i can just swap the stalks out.
Will try it and update, can you think of anything else that I can look at short of taking the whole car apart and tracing all the wires.
#13: Re: 206 sw 2.0HDI Won't start - Immobiliser fault Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sat Jun 29, 2019 5:37 am ---- Have you tried a different transponder aerial yet? There simple plug & play.
Round black plastic aerial clipped around the end of the ignition barrel & one connector plug in to the back of the Com2000 unit.
I would be surprised if it was engine ecu or BSI failure - someone like BBA could check / test the units if you sent them both to them.
Could be a wiring fault, could be a fault in the BM34 fuse box under the bonnet.

#15: Re: 206 sw 2.0HDI Won't start - Immobiliser fault Author: commandosqueak, Location: Lower SlaughterPosted: Thu Jul 25, 2019 8:37 pm ---- comm unit changed and ignition key coil for the transponder has been changed also. Still not starting. Will have to get into the wiring and see if I can work out what is causing this
